Make-up artiest geeft Disney-prinsessen een Indiase make-over

Slanke, blanke of westerse Disney-prinsessen zijn voor veel mensen geen geschikt rolmodel. En dat beseft ook model en make-up artist Hamel Patel, die enkele bekende prinsessen in een Indiaas jasje stak.

Oorspronkelijk is Patel van North Carolina, maar de actie is bedoeld als een soort eerbetoon aan haar familie, die Indiase roots heeft. De Indiase Disney-prinsessen zijn uitgedost in vrolijke kleuren, opvallende juwelen en losvallende jurken, die eigenlijk perfect passen binnen de klassieke Disney-stijl.

“Ik heb altijd gehoopt dat er op een dag een Disney-prinses zou komen waar ik mezelf in herkende of die dezelfde roots heeft als mij”, legt Patel uit op haar Instagram-account. Omdat ze daar wel erg lang op moest wachten, besloot ze dan maar het heft in eigen handen te nemen.
